That would be David Asbal (or Asbury) Anders, born 20 Nov 1822 in SC d. 3 June 1920 Pisgah Forest, Transylvania Co. NC (you can write for a copy of his death certificate which will give you the names of his parents) buried Boyleston Baptist Church Cemetary. There is an excellent articles in Volume I of "Henderson County North Carolina Heritage". Articles #35 and and #36 would be of great interest to you if you could get a copy of the book on inter-library loan. He is the son of John Anders born 1797 in VA and can be found on the 1870 Transylvania Co. NC census with his 3rd wife Mary and their two children Linda and Porter, another child Kate married a DeLong. By John's first wife, name unknown (but should be on David's death certificate) by whom she had your David and his brother John. By a second wife, also name unknown, he had: Pink Anders who married Artie; Jane who married a McGaha; Martha who married a Massey; Ben and William. Temperance Jane Bishop born 1822 was the daughter of Philip Biship b. 1793 in England and his wife Margaret Goode b. 1797 in Europe. Your David served in the Civil War and there may be a pension file for him. Send for a copy from the North Carolina State Archives or perhaps the Archives in Washington, DC. Sometimes a pension file will furnish additional family information. Good luck in your research. I'm trying to find the link for my grandmother, Laura Ann Anders who married my grandfather Robert Hossack Kuykendall. Her mother was Martha Redmon who after her husband died, married Jonathan (or Bob) Ledford. I have been told that Laura's father was John Anders but cannot find proof of this. I've wondered if your David's brother John was her father as James Millard Anders son of Pinkney and Artie, married Ida Louise Kuykendall, d/o Jacob Rollo Kuykendall, father of above Robert Hossack Kuykenda. I hope that you will be able to get a copy of the Henderson Co. Heritage. They may still be available from the Henderson Co. History and Genealogical Society in Hendersonville.
