GenForum.com post of Jul 6, 2004 also included information I couldn't connect: "Nancy Pruden daughter of John W. Pruden and Moning An his wife was born the 11 day of Oct 18?9 (maybe 1839)." & "John W. Pruden son of John W. Pruden and Moning his wife was born the 28th day of February 1842."
Web page "Confederate States of America 61st Virginia Infantry Company F Isle of Wight Avengers" indicates Pruden, John W. as "Prisoner Elmira, NY". Most likely in 1860's.
As of 28 Dec 2005, I have not been able to confirm any of the possible connections of John Pruden with the Pruden families in North Carolina, New Jersey or Virginia. The search continues.Possibly: Mills John Pruden or John Mills Pruden?

John Pruden1 (M) b. b 1790, #1484
John Pruden was born before 1790.1 He married Mourning Pruden <p1481.htm>.1 When John Pruden died, his wife Mary A. Pruden provided information for the death record that conflicted partially with their marriage record. The death record listed his parents as Mills and Mourning Pruden. However, the assumption can be made that based on two seperate marriage records listing the names the same way, the marriage records are probably right. Also marriage records are normally considered more accurate than death records based on the information being given by the person themselves. The possibibly also exists that the name was John Mills Pruden or Mills John Pruden which would make both records correct.2 He Reference (12), 'OUR HERITAGE, THE FAMILY AND ANCESTORS OF JOSEPH THADDEUS WILLIAMS AND MATTIE LEE BARTLETT WILLIAMS' by Katrine Lee Bartlett Williams provided information that listed the parents of Mills Pruden as William, Jr. and Betty Pruden. No source was given for the information.2 Reference: (2,3,12).2 It is not known how many children John and Mourning had, however, marriage records for Sarah Pruden Luke and Mills Pruden list John and Mourning as their parents. When Sarah Luke (widow, age 50) and Copeland Wright (widower, age 53) married on November 8, 1853, she listed John and Mourning Pruden as her parents. When Mills Pruden (widower, age 62) and Mary A. Redd (widow, age 32) married on November 8, 1870, he listed John and Mourning as his parents.2
